# A declined offer is told to the buyer

This morning's post about [accepted offers](/blog/an-accepted-offer-arrives-by-email)
said, in passing, that a decline "closed the deal on our side without a
message". That sentence was accurate, and it should not have been: an
offer made on this site and declined by us was recorded as declined, and
you were not told.

From now on you are. When we decline an offer you made on this site, an
email arrives with:

- your offer reference and the domain — or, for a bundle, every domain
  in it;
- the reason, if we gave one when we declined. We often do; a decline
  with a reason is more useful than one without;
- one link, to the domain's page, in case you want to make a new offer.
  A new offer starts a new conversation; nothing carries over.

The email deliberately names no price. A negotiation that ended in a
decline may have passed through several figures, and the one we would
name could be the wrong one. It says the deal is closed and nothing is
owed, which is the part that matters.

If your offer came through our Telegram bot, nothing changes: the bot
already told you there, with the reason, and it still does.

Like our other buyer email, this one records whether it was opened and
whether the link was clicked, for fraud prevention, and says so at the
bottom.
