# A referral form that checks as you type

The [referral form](/refer/) asks for three things: who you are, who you
told, and which of our domains you told them about. Until today it checked
none of them until you pressed Submit — and a domain we do not sell, or a
typo in one we do, sent you to an error page with the form gone.

## What changes

**Domains are chips.** Type a name and press Enter, or paste a list; each
one becomes a chip you can remove with a click or a Backspace. As you type,
the form suggests names from our catalog, and a name that is not in it is
marked at once, with the button held until you fix it. Paste a URL, a
`www.`, a trailing dot or an internationalized name in its own script and
the form works out which catalog entry you meant.

**Email addresses are checked in place.** Both address fields say when
something does not look like an address, next to the field, before you
submit — and the form notices if you have named yourself as the buyer.

Nothing about the program itself changes: same 10% commission, same 60-day
protection, same first-registration-wins rule. The form is just faster to
get right. And with JavaScript off it still works exactly as before —
comma-separated names, checked when you submit.
