# Find alternatives and compare a domain shortlist

Give your assistant a reference domain and a project brief. The new
`suggest_alternatives` MCP tool finds other names in Namegarage’s published
catalog. It excludes the reference name and returns current prices and links.
You can set a cash budget and limit the number of results.

The reference name does not need to be in our catalog. The tool does not check
whether it is registered or available elsewhere. If no published alternatives
match your constraints, it returns an empty list.

The [shortlist demo](/mcp/#shortlist-demo) shows how an assistant can compare
fictional names, separate offer-only candidates from priced matches, and explain
naming tradeoffs. Naming opinions are judgments, not trademark checks.
For real candidates, use `get_domain` to verify each listing and
`get_purchase_options` to compare cash and lease costs.

All four public MCP tools are read-only. They cannot buy or reserve names,
make offers, or send messages. Use the returned domain-page links to review
